I love the coloring on that strap.. its generally a basic brown, but it has some variations in it giving it a custom look. Good job! |

Don't you still make straps? I always like to see strapmakers doing some tapers. Its surprising how many strapmakers have never done a taper or are willing to try it simply because making straight straps is so much easier. |

Yes, Nelson, I still make straps! Well...I've done some tapered and padded straps, but it seems that Panerai owners simply don't use tapered straps. Don't now...think two or three customers asked for tapered. But I do tapered straps. And padded. unfinished cobra shaped ...and even submarine shaped...the AKULA ...my little daughter looking in a strange way at it... I believe tapered and padded straps are more wanted by non Panerai owners...I dunno...Omega...Rolex...other watches... Me, I try to improve leather look, stitching, and give own character to each strap I make, on the most simple shape. Do you think straps gain more substance and are more interesting if they have a different shape? I think it's all about matching My base business is making furniture. And I make it to fit. Not only as dimensions and customer needs, but in the environment, and with the general feel in the house (or office). Here is some: http://s1007.photobucket.com/albums/af2 ... la/Office/ http://s1007.photobucket.com/albums/af2 ... rticulari/ So, I make straps on same principle. A strap , IMO, need to fit. The wrist, the watch, the clothes, the owner character. HUH! And now (just now!) I figure that I make my straps on my own character! Haha, strange mix of a carpenter, Jethro Tull, and oil-petroleum field intervention engineer... Well...but I think it's the only way...to give your own character. Hope I did not bored you with my post, ask apologies if I did. All the best, Cristian |

Fit is important. I agree. Certain styles of straps such as padded and tapered do seem to go better with certain types of watches, and of course personal style plays a role as well. |
