Hello people, This is the short story: I got from AD May 2011, MX005FNX-Strap for folding buckle, Alligator Nubuck Gold, ecru stitch. Maybe wearing 2-3 times. Yesterday at the day I catch the rain and strap became wet, letter at home I recognize that stains all around the strap (image attached). According Panerai specification: Leather straps Panerai leather straps are made using alligator and calf leather selected in such a way as to satisfy the highest standards of quality. The skins are cut following special techniques which ensure the absolute integrity of each piece. Water-resistant test This test investigates the water absorption and water rejection characteristics: the leather strap is alternately submerged in water and air-dried. Humidity test This test simulates the combination of high atmospheric humidity with high temperature. My question is: to whom I must submit complain and who is responsible for exchange AD-Florida location, Boutique (NY) or US Distributor East coast.

I know you got a hard time on another forum but my feelings are, that for the money genuine Hirsch/Panerai straps cost they should in this case behave better. In the UK the point of sale is the place to address any complaints, personally i would go back to the supplying dealer and see what they say. If you don't get a satisfactory result there, then consider talking to the importer and then if you have to perhaps the factory. I would imagine the strap can be salvaged anyway with a suede block or brush and then maybe treat it with a waterproofing agent. Let us know how you get on if you return it to the dealer. |

I did not see your post on the other forums, but my take is this: I personally would try my hardest not to get any leather strap wet, water resistant or not. However, if the company states that they are water resistant and resist humidity, I would think that it shouldn't permanently stain from light exposure to some rain either. As Baz suggested, try the suede block.. it can do wonders. |
