I am looking to make my first Panerai purchase and need some advice.

I have found a great 090 and a good sale price. I do love the watch, only thing is it is all polished. Not sure if i should be considering a brushed steel for my first, and possibly, only Panerai

I am going to look at a 312 and what i like most about it is that it is all brushed, and sandwich face. This would be full price.

Finally, there is a 176. I like the watch as well with its sandwich face, brushed look, but it has a simple face.

Any thoughts?

Brian

Go to the shop and try all three watches.....on the end : listen to your gut response and buy it.
Looking forward to see the first pictures ;-)

Cheers,
Alex

Thank you for the advice, I appreciated hearing it. I did finally try both watches on, this evening. They were at different AD's. It was a really tough choice, and I still haven't made my final decision. However, one of the biggest factors is how it looks on my smaller wrist and the 090 fit more comfortably and was not as large feeling as the 312's 1950 case. It was a subtle difference. Here are two pics. Let me know if you have any further thoughts. THANK YOU!

IMHO the latter looks better on your wrist. The dial is a little more busy.

Does it make any kind of difference that the 312 has an in house movement while the 90 does not?

Alex, thanks for response. I am going to go see the 090 again tonight.

Another Question: Since the 090 has the painted face and the 312 has the sandwich dial, is there any difference in luminescence? I wasn't sure if they glowed the same.

Well, I never have made an compare to find out the difference. But I can tell you the following :

- Sandwiched dials tend to glow slower and die down faster.
- Painted dials are not consistant in their thickness, so they might glow better.

Did you get the PAM90 now ? If yes, where are the pictures ?

Cheers,
Alex
