Middle-of-the-week rant...

I live in France and visit (Less and less, if the truth be known) the French Paneristi site. Why the "less and less" ? Principally because some of the people (Not all) seem to be taken up with spending their time discussing really inconsequential details which, for me, detract from the pleasure of owning and wearing a watch.

Someone has just posted "For Sale" their brand new 292 which they ordered and purchased from a dealer here - bear in mind the list price (And therefore the price he paid) is 5300€.

Sale price? 11000€

"Flipping" is becoming widespread, without doubt due to the rarity of certain models, but this just seems completely out of orbit.

Sorry - had to get that off my chest ;)

Yeah it is a shame and detriment to the hobby when someone buys a timepeice for the purpose of flipping, and no other reason, which appears to be the case quite often.

I often browse the sale section of Paneristi and see many pieces being sold BNIB and well below retail. They always seems too good to be true. I came close to pulling the trigger on a 233 through one of these ads. But as hard as I tried, I couldn't get the courage up to paypal that much coin. Ended up buying one from the AD for 5% off retail. The extra money I spent is worth the happiness I have in knowing my 233 is authentic and really BNIB.
