Current rant:

Over on 'another' Panerai forum a question regarding the relative scarcity of the 292 was posted.

Perfectly reasonable question, and a couple of people, myself included, responded. I'm not in the habit of laying down 'my' law, or insiting that I'm right or whatever, and my reply simply stated that Panerai have had production problems with this particular model, with a batch of 50 cases being rejected due to flaws in the ceramic.

Perfectly reasonable answer, in my view (obviously)

Sadly, there are a number of 'regulars' who know everything, of course, and one of them (for whom I've had a certain esteem - until today) replied with "Actually that information is somewhat correct...just very dated...."

WTF - I was only trying to answer the original posters question with, as it happens, perfectly factual data - I hadn't realised that there was a time limit on this kind of news.

This sort of thing is what makes posting on the 'other' forum SUCH a pleasure...

And don't get me started on Canadiens who insist on posting photographs of the interiors of lifts/restaurants/toilets at every oportunity...

Rant off

Doncha just love "somewhat correct" :?

What about Canadians? Are we okay? :D

Actually went travelling with a couple of Canadiens when I was in the Mediterranean the last couple of weeks.

Anyway.. sorry to hear about the snobbery.. that's the problem with some bigger boards. Lots of personalities :(

Nothing wrong with Canadiens, per se, but this guy just happens to be 'one' - this wasn't a blanket criticism of you guys ;)

Gotta do something to stimulate interest around here - I've tried, but sadly the 'other' boards are so damn sensitive, even an oblique mention of another forum brings down the wrath of the moderators. Sad really that people can't accept that there may be other alternatives that can quite happily co-exist.

ah.. Actually i was joking about the Canadiens spelling as opposed to Canadians. Spelt with an "E" it refers to those Canadians that are from Quebec, the french speaking section of Canada.. and they have a reputation here in Canada of being anti-establishment and separatist. It is a bit of a stereotype as not all of them are like that, but there is a large percentage that are. Its the only primarily french-speaking province. :D

yeah.. its too bad about the other forums. even Timezone doesn't allow mention of other forums here. I don't mind the mention of something that happens, so long as the forum isn't named if it is a negative thing. Linking to other forum threads is no biggie. I dont really care.. I think other forums don't like it because they see it as a way that people are using their forums for free advertising. Greedy bastards. I don't mind as long as it's not abused.
