Hi all, I'm hoping to treat myself to a 112 soon. I'm a bit confused about the movement. What's the difference between the movement in it, and the automatic movement? Do I have to manually wind it every other day, or can I put it on a winder? Thanks in advance! |

The 112 is a Luminor Base - the movement (OP X) is manual so yes, you'll have to wind it up every couple of days. The first automatic Luminor (And I'm speaking about current models) is the 104 which you can put on a winder. Of course, you could go completely bonkers and get the 270 which is automatic, but also has a whopping 10 day power reserve... |

Thanks SB Not as straight-forward as I thought. I'm nearly ready to go for one and presumed I could put it on my winder as I would only wear it 1 day a week probably. Do you know what the difference is in price to go for an Auto? Thanks Damian |

Broadly speaking (because 'other' details change the price of course) the difference is about £600 in your money. The 112 for example is listed at £2,500 while the 104 is at £3,100. The 'other' things are details like small seconds, date etc. Basically the differences are (and this is only a rule of thumb): Base: manual wind, no seconds, no date Marina:manual wind, small seconds, no date Marina Automatic: automatic, small seconds, date (yes, that bloody awful cyclops!) Of course, other differences are display backs, metal bracelets...everything changes the price, sometimes in surprising ways. |
