Hi everybody! I need some help/suggestions as I accidentally stripped the small screw that fixes the strap to the deployant buckle. The screw is still inside the buckle. How can I remove it? Where can I buy a replacement? On the web there are on sale many tubes+screws to connect the strap to the case but I can't find any small screw to connect the strap to the deployant buckle. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!! Mike

Mike, you may have to go to the AD for that. I heard from mine they have seen that happen a few times. You will need to get a new screw for sure. As for how to get that out, you may have to drill it out. I'll have them do that for you lest you do more damage. |

I experienced this a while ago on one of the deployant buckles i had. Unfortunately it got a bit involved as the thread stripped on the buckle section and the screw bar. I ended up with a gunsmith friend making a new pin and modifying the buckle section accordingly. ime, an AD will be unlikely to resolve this unless it's just the thread on the bar that's failed which if you think about it, is at best ony a possibility as both threads are as weak/strong as each other. RIS will simply want to replace the complete buckle of course. |

So, if it's just the head that's stripped all you need to do is go to the hardware store and grab a carbon flat head screwdriver. Tap a new groove into the head just enough to extract it and replace the pin. Alternately, you may be able to finesse the head of a small cutting wheel on a Dremel in there, also creating a new slot. I bring these options up because I wonder what the dealer could do other than this. |
