Post subject: | OEM rubber question |
As well as the alligator leather on deployment i like most also have the OEM rubber strap which iam yet to wear. I assume the deployment is to be used on the rubber also. But would it be ok to fit an aftermarket tang buckle and wear it that way? My other thought was if i wear it on tang, i can never go back to wearing it with deployment as the strap will be marked / shaped were the tang clasp digs in. Thoughts please? |

If you're owning / taking care of your watch for the next owner then of course you should keep it looking BNIB. If not, then enjoy whichever you choose. I personally prefer the OEM rubber over the OEM aligator on my 351. R/ |

The Deployant Rubber and Tang rubber straps are slightly different. While you can put the tang buckle on the deployant rubber I don't think you can do the opposite. The rubber might be slightly mishapen after using the tang on it, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use the deployant again. |

I use the tang on the rubber OEM strap. It does cause it to be slightly "used". For sum reason, the OEM aligator is just not the "right" size. The OEM rubber strap on that watch is pretty much perfect. I will say that the Breitling Ocean Racer strap and deployant / deployment is perhaps the best combination I have ever had the pleasure of owning / wearing. Funny thing is my 112 is perfect on the OEM black leather. I guess its the difference between 1950 case and the automatic movement. I really wish there were an AD or Botique close by. IMHO, a manual wind PAM is more interesting to me. I would enjoy the opportunity to try a 233. 1950 case, manual 8 day movement, display back, domed crystal, date. IMHO the best combination. And did I mention GMT!! R/ |

Interesting that you say the OEM rubber fits perfect. My original question about using tang with the rubber was because i assumed like the alligator,i would have sizing problems when using the deployment.(i have yet to try out the rubber). Also have to agree with you on the ocean racer and deployment. I have fitted to my chrono avenger as a daily beater and it's perfect and totally comfortable. |
