Looking to get my 1st pam and nailed down to 312 or 359.

Which model do you guys think look best with different straps?

Of your choices, the 312 for me every time. The dial is cleaner and the style is more in keeping with how a Panerai should look. Fully numbered dials are too busy, imo

Both are flexible with any number of straps, but i think the 312 is better again though, as it doesn't have the faux lume to conflict with some colours of leather.

I completely agree with Baz on this.. like the 312 for the exact same reasons as him. The 312 is definately more flexible with straps.. the antiqued lume will affect strap compatibility. The 312 I think is a better 1st PAM.

The 359 has pre-aged, tinted-fake 'faux' lume. The 312 has regular, green 'C3' Lume.

312 it is.

I first tried on the 359 a week ago and really liked it. But I know one day I'll get sick of the numbers and wonder why I didn't get a more classic Panerai with the 312.

How does the 312's black alligator strap look with casual t-shirt/jeans?

it looks fine and with the quick strap changing feature changing straps is a breeze.

enjoy

Hey if you own the 312 Long enough maybe the Lume will antique with Age! I'm not sure if SuperLuminova antiques the way tritium does, but I think it will over time!

I just bought my 1st PAM, a 359... Before getting the 359, I was also considering 312 for its simplicity as well as the better looking leather strap. However, after thinking through for a couple of weeks, I have decided to get a watch which is slightly different and so I bought the dirty dial :)

It may take a while for me to fully appreciate the 359. At the moment, I am using the rubber strap since I feel that the black leather strap somehow does not make the watch stands out. It is just a personal feeling... Well, I have already ordered a couple of straps from Greg and hopefully I could post some pictures to show everyone how my 359 can transform :)

Dirty dial! haha.. yeah. The 359 is a great watch, and realistically I think most people would be happy with either in the long run.

Thank you for agreeing although you have said otherwise :) Yes, both 312 and 359 are nice... I am thinking which model should I collect next :)

Wow really? The strap on the 359 to me is one of the main selling points. The color of the stitching matches the dial perfectly

Yes, I agree that the black strap is nice but my preference is a brown strap and IMHO, brown matches the dirty dial better ;)
