(Topic opened ;), some forums don't like to have too many topics opened)

Well, here's another question.

I compared the sapphire glass of the Rolex and the Panerai. What I've noticed is that the glass from the Rolex is more smooth than Panerai's.

The one from Panerai feels more like real glass and is more "stiff" when I rub it with my finger or nails. I also thought that there was still a sticker/plastic on it! But couldn't peel anything off!

Do they come with a sticker/plastic on the glass? Or could it be the anti reflex layer?

ps: Sportback, are you the guy who's reviewing on youtube?

As for the glass, there is indeed an antireflective coating on both sides of the crystal. Can't say I've ever noticed a particular 'feel' for it though.

I'm not sure what coatings Rolex employ, and whether or not they're on the inside, the outside or both.

I once saw a Panerai photo showing the difference between coated and uncoated crystal - I'll try to dig it up.

Thanks for the new subject. I think we're pretty cool here with regard to the number of subjects, and my request was simply to try to make it easier to find the info treated by each poster - I think you'd have to agree the policy of 'agressive' moderating doesn't have it's place here.

Rolex only use AR on the inside of their crystals, hence why you'll always find more reflection on them compared to a Breitling or a Panerai.
