Post subject:  An Interesting Statistic

Was looking at the magazine WatchTime, and a small article about the number of Chronometer Certificates issued by the COSC in 2007. It lists the top 20 brands, and Panerai is 4th, just after Breitling!

1) Rolex 728,256
2) Omega 341, 161
3) Breitling 222,650
4) Panerai 43,970
5) TAG 29,936

To me, it was quite a surprise, for a "niche" watch like Panerai. Is it because of the popularity of Panerai, or because all or most of their watches are COSC certified?
I guess it's no surprise to Breitling fans, but Breitling accounted for almost all of the COSC Certificates issued for quartz watches.
BTW, I can't seem to find: Does anyone know if all Panerai watches are COSC certified?

Cheers,
Carl

COSC info:

The only Panerai models with COSC certification are the models with the small seconds - the 'Base' models (Luminor 000, 112, 114, 176, 219 and the Radiomir 210, 231) don't have this complication so don't pass by COSC.

The 'manifattura' models don't have COSC certification either, as Panerai consider their in-house testing and quality control exceeds COSC specifications.
