I have the option to buy a PAM 048. I wasn't really after a 40mm version, but at the same time the automatic movement has got me thinking. Now the reason for buying is a really want a Panerai & I like this watch, however I have to be mindful that I want to have a model that retains it's value, or more importantly it's easy to sell. The model is from 2001. My price range is limited & I've missed out on a number of PAM 112 & 000. I currently have a Fortis Pilot Chrono, so size & wind mech is the same ish.

I don't know what the policy/thoughts are on posting prices, but if it's accetable I can add this info.

I think most are in agreement the 40mm is harder to sell come the day you do that. If you kind find the 44mm you want, that is what i would buy and i suspect most others.

You have a PM too ;)

thought this might be the case. Althought I'm not buying to sell. I feel allot better knowing I can retain a good % of value & sell when I need to.

the trend today is toward bigger watch (although i see it's peaked), who knows what 5-10 years down the road it'll be. buy a watch you enjoy wearing, that's where most of the value is imo. fyi i like my watches in the 42-45mm, who knows when i'm in my 40s and 50s maybe i'll go back to 38-40mm 8-)

Thanks guys. I think I've moved away from the 048 idea & I'm back onto the 000/112 now.

Fingers crossed.

I'd suggest the opposite, the older i get and as the eyesight worsens, the bigger the dial the better, trust me ;)

Its all down to personal preference but I think if you try the 48 and 112 back to back you won't even consider the 40mm models. Don't get me wrong they are very nice but it just doesn't look or feel right...
