Can those scratches be polished out with Cape cod? They are made while I was rubbing with Panerai cloth.

If they're just surface marks, i.e you can see them but not feel them, a Cape Cod would probably remove them. If they're deep enough to feel, probably not.

The problem with the Panerai cloth i find is, grit stuck on the watch gets moved around causing this damage. Some like me get distressed, others accept it as every day hazards.

I use a very soft microfibre cloth for polishing and leave Panerai's cloth in the box as i think it's a useless accessory.

hmm those are some noticeable scratches with the oem cloth. where do you get the fine microfiber cloth baz? i see the boutique and other people have that blue panerai polishing cloth...those are probably good? i'll put the oem back in the box.

I too have had this problem with my pam and it is soooooo annoying. What is a microfibre cloth and where do I get one!! Suppose washing it first will remove a dirt on the watch so you don't even up rubbing it in and scratching the case.

Mine came from an eBay seller in Thailand. All you need really is a soft microfibre cloth. I have a dealer supplied, blue fine weave genuine Panerai cloth and tbh, it just doesn't equal a soft microfibre cloth. Any will do i suppose, i just got lucky maybe with what i bought, only two at the time and the history is now deleted from my eBay account as it's so old.

I think given the polish that 316 surgical steel is capable of taking, if you breath on it, it will mark. One reason why i like my Panerai's in Titanium.

but back to polishing cloth, an intial ebay search of "microfiber jewelry cloth" left me unimpressed:

the flitz might be capable but it's more of an all-purpose type cloth, not specializing in watches/jewelry. i checked the TZ toolshop and they sell "selvyt" cloth. did a quick google and it seems competent. i might buy a test one and see how it goes. any of these names sound familiar to you baz?

I'd quite forgotton the Flitz cloth as i have one of those but tend to use it as a place mat for whatever i'm doing and then put down. It's very good but a little to thick to easliy manipulate into every crevice like between the lugs while the strap is still on. The smaller emerald green one's i got even have genuine looking 'PANERAI' labels on them, though clearly they're not official merchandise.

On reflection, i think they came from a seller on Paneristi, hence i can't find the purchase record on eBay.
