hi guys,

I'm a total newbie to panerai and luxury watches in general but have spent most of the night on the net looking at the panerai and breitling forums.

my question is a pretty simple one

i am basically looking for something that is exactly like the PAM 112 but with 1950's case and automatic movement instead of hand-winding because it would drive me nuts to wind my watch on a daily basis.

if there isn't one that has the 1950's case is there one that is exactly like the PAM 112 but with automatic movement?

The two differences are the small seconds at 9, and the date at 3. I don't think there are any Automatic models with no date and no seconds. The base models will always be hand-wound.

Even without the 1950's case, the automatic Luminor PAM104 doesn't have the sandwich dial, but is automatic and has the date and small seconds.

Go with the 112....great starter PAM. Very clean and versatile! Price friendly too : )

I definitely like the Clean look of the 112 but wish it was automatic because I'm just way too lazy to wind it and I want it to be a be an every day watch.

I also like the side profile of the 1950 case with the domed crystal.

I just might have to suck it up and wind it!

I cant speak for everyone else but winding the watch is actually the fun part for me! Either way you go just realize that it will not be your last. You'll eventually have both. There isn't just ONE panerai that satisfies the need

but i read on the forum that winding it all the time also contributes to wear and tear and I wonder how long it will 'last' before it needs to be repaired/refurbished from constant winding and the costs associated with this?

these watch may be very elegant but also very durable. i've only been a panerai owner for about 2 years now and have never had a problem nor have i heard of any problems on this forum or other forums i belong to..There made to be wounded since they only have about 2 1/2 day power reserve. I wind mines about every other day. I wouldnt worry about it but definity buy watch you feel comfortable with. I think pam does a great job with the selection of mechanical and automatics.

If you really can't see yourself winding and want the 1950's case, the PAM312 is for you.

Different strokes for different folks. I like to have both manual and automatic winding watches in my collection.

indeed if you are looking for a metal bracelet the 328 is a great choice.
