The long awaited for PAM 320 with the Calibre P.9001 movement has finally arrived.

Since I am going to use an automatic watch winder with this watch, I would like to ask if anybody knows how the watch winds itself. Is it clockwise, counter-clockwise or bi-directional? The Orbita web page does neither specify the winding direction nor the required turns-per-day (TPD).

My watch winder is from EILUX, which can be set to wind in the before mentioned three directions at a fixed 850 TPD.

Any feedback whether this watch winder is suitable for my precious PAM 320 is much appreciated.

I have a 320 myself since December 09 and I'm very happy with it. Never been in love with a watch like with this one.

As far as I know, the 320 winds itself in both directions, so it is bi-directional. I don't know where, but I know that I have read it somewhere.

Can't help you with the watch-winder, I've never used one.

I would ask Panerai... they would have the winding specs on the movement, since its in-house. I'm sure they would be happy to help. The Eilux winders are nice.

i would be curious to see which way those panerai in-house movement wind also. since i'm back to watches without the 7-8 day movements i'm looking for a winder also.

I have sent an email to Panerai head office and will see what they come up with. I will post their reply once received to end all mysteries.

Regarding my EILUX watch winder I must admit that I am more than satisfied with it. The drive motor is super quiet, the 2 C sized batteries seem to last forever (9 month to date) and the prize is about right. Not to mention that the winder follows the winding interval standard one normally finds with the more expensive winders.

What put me off buying an ORBITO winder is the fact that they are still warning about the "cheapos" who may "damage" the watch by over-winding.

Well, even the non-aficionado knows that the clutch mechanism of the modern automatic watch prevents from over-winding. I don't know what they intended by this statement, probably referring to older generation automatic watches or a kind of "scare-off" marketing strategy?
