I'm expecting my first Panerai, PAM 312, in a few weeks my question is do you really need a winder? what's the benefit besides keeping you from winding your watch whenever you put in on. i have a couple of other automatic watches bought from AD but none had advice me to get a winder.

I received a winder as a Christmas gift for my two automatics...a PAM 88 and a Cartier Roadster and I have yet to use it. My primary watch is the 88 and I don't mind winding the roadster daily. The real benefit of a winder for me will be when I travel for extended periods and bringing along multiple watches will be inconvenient.

I have winders and I used to use them more often. These days I manually wind my pieces and wear them regularly enough that the winders are sitting unused.
