PAM112
I'm seriously tempted with this one! What's everyone's thoughts?

Good choice - crystal back, Luminor base - around £2300 (new) UK I think - 2500 made in the series 'J' (2007)

I can't get over the price, it looks great value for money! Excuse the ignorance, but what's the difference between this and others at £5/6,000?

Superb Choice and great value

I'm cursing myself for selling my A series Pam26 as featured in the gallery

I fancy the same watch but with the small seconds...PAM 0111

That's a bit like "How long's a piece of string" isn't it?! Hard to say until we know what you're comparing it with.

The Base is basic ;) , and from here on the complications begin - firstly a small seconds hand, then a date function, then an automatic wind...each complication has it's price - then there's the material used - Steel, Titanium, Gold etc. and finally add the in-house movements. The list is long...

Decide what you want from your watch, then see what's available in any given range - and moreover, if you can afford it!

I like my 219 (the Destro base) for it's simplicity.

The lack of date would do my head in though. I think Panerai does the "simple" look very well, but no date is a "simplicity too far" in my book....

I agree - in principle - that's why we 'all' have more than one! No self respecting paneristi would have a collection without a base model ;)

Yeah.. I use the date feature a lot on my watches, but I think the 112 is such a classic panerai with the clean simple Panerai looks and the manual wind that make it a great started Panerai.

Actually when I had the Franck Muller Casablanca and IWC Portuguese Chrono, both watches did not have a date, and I found myself struggling a bit with them... so not a daily wearer for me.
