ok guys i am completely new to Panerai. here is my question...is the 312 and 359 the same watch just different dials?? I thought i read somewhere that the 359 was some sort of LE. But when i checked pricing they were both the same 7400 USD.

Your first impression is correct.. they are exactly the same with different dials. With Panerai, ANY change whatsoever merits a change in model number. Each model number defines the watch case, dial and strap. If its on a bracelet, the model number changes yet again. Neither are unique edition watches, but they are limited.. as all Panerai are.

I thought Panerai where making 3000 units of the 359 in its first year. So not a LE at all, still don't let that put you off.

not sure as the amount of pieces they produced. the fact that its not an LE doesnt bother me. Im just not sure if its the classic dial or numeral i prefer more. What i really need to do is see both of them side by side. The hard part is that there is only one dealer in my province with Panerai and i cant see them brining in both pieces just for me to try and seee which one i want.


edit - im sure you cant go wrong with either piece. they both look awesome!

Another difference is the case.
PAM00312 comes with brushed steel case while the PAM00359 comes with polished steel case (the crownguard is still brushed).

thanks tigergutt. i really like the 312 but the polished case of a 359 is appealing.

Good point out on the polished case. I forgot about that.

I personally dislike the polished cases on PAM's now.. after having both polished and brushed cases, I've decided I like the polished bezel with brushed case combo the best.

well palladio called me the other day and told me that there is already someone with a deposit on the 312. so they beat me to it. to top it off they have no idea how long it will take for that 312 to come in and how long it will take for another one after that.

get a 328....all the fun of the 312 with the ss bracelet
