Post subject:  plastic guarantee card

I bought a second hand Radiomir (I series) in Miami, US. The jeweler told me that the newer models do not come with plastic guarantee cards.
However recently and whilst in UK I was told that I need such a card or that would affect the price of the resold watch... what is the truth around this magic plastic card and can I obtain a replacement from Panerai themselves? I assume they can trace the watch and issue one (at a price)??

My J series PAM came with a card... perhaps the K series do not.

It depends on whether or not it's an 'in-house' movement or not. The card is vital if you ever need to send the watch to Panerai for repairs or service.

However, the in-house (Manifattura) movements don't seem to have a card - instead these models have a booklet, the same dimensions as the instruction booklet, which has to be returned if ever the watch goes 'home' to Panerai.

There is no COSC certificate either with the Manifattura models, as Panerai maintain that their quality control is more stringent than the COSC...

The original poster did not specify which model Radiomir he was talking about, and as the only Rad with in-house movement is the 268 which wasn't available in 2006 ('I' series) perhaps the dealer didn't know what he was talking about...
