I love my Pam 112. I just hate winding it. Call me lazy but I have watch ADD and always forget to wind it. I've fallen in love with the new 312 & 320. They're the next best thing to a 112 IMO for the price. They're both clean, simple, sandwich dial and no cyclops (dont mind a date just hate the cyclops).

There's one problem with the 312 & 320...its sooooo damn thick. I got girly wrists and I wore a buddy's 312 around for a week and I just couldn't get over how thick it was. It appears the extra thickness is coming from the open case-back.

So my question is...could the 312 or 320 have a generic standard (non windowed) caseback swapped onto it to make it sit flus like a normal pam?

Thanks for the help.

I don't know if there are aftermarket casebacks that fit, however, I don't think you'd get it any thinner. The extra thickness is from having a rotor. If you move to an extended manual wind model like the 8 day ones they are thinner and it gives you more time to recover from ADD.

Longer strap to allow a looser fit? The internal requirements of the watch are fixed. Plus, I don't think you really want a non-Panerai caseback, do you?

I've got the so called 'girly' wrists as well and really don't think the watch is too thick. My daily watch before the 312 was a Rolex datjust and let me tell you, the first time I wore the 312 I was thinking OMG the watch is too big and THICK. Now its all fine and the Rolex looks 'girly'.

I would not mess with the caseback. Open that and risk ruining a good watch.

My 2 cents

Yeah, I would find a way to embrace the construction of the watch and make it work for you, without modification (other than the leather.) My take anyhoo

hmmm...try a thicker strap of about 6-7mm. thicker straps seem to reduce the gaps especially if the leather is real soft like gunny caitlins. OEM straps are just a tad too thin for me...anyway it worked for me.

i wouldn't mess with replacing the caseback....try one on and see how it feels. a thicker strap will probably do the trick.

how difficult is it to wind a watch a few times a week?....lol
