It's a re-release of the original 1956/7 Egiziano produced for the Egyptian navy. It turns out they will now make 500 (instead of the 300 originally announced) and it's really made for the 'collectors' - at 19000€ they will be the only ones who can afford it ;)

The original 300 were 'booked' before 11am on the first day of the SIHH...

The movement is a modified P.2002 manifattura, and I'll admit I had doubts about this at first, but now I think it's great that a manufacturer can actually do this - produce pure folies - excellent!

But how pi$$ed would you be to buy thinking it was one of 300 but now one of 500 :? Rare either way i know and i wouldn't personally want one regardless. I know it's the manufacturers prerogative to make what they choose, but to announce one thing then move the goalposts

I''d liken it to Rolex with the BS on the LV Sub and Milgauss. LE's my arse.

My biggest problem with Rolex "LE" models is that the dealers that carry them KNOW that they are jacked up up, so they pick their richest clients, and then essentially auction them off to the higest bidder, withholding the actual supply to drive up the prices. Its absolutely ridiculous. They never sell the limited models for anything even close to retail price when they first come out. Same with the Stainless Daytonas.

This might very well happy wiht Panerai dealers too, but I haven't had any experiences with that so I can't say.
