Hello,

I'm new to this site as I am new to Panerais. I started to get interested 7-8 months ago, but then the interest was kind of sleeping for a while as I hunted down other watches. Now I really think it's time for the watchbox to contain a PAM too.

However, I need help narrowing down the models that I should be looking for. My wishlist is this:
* That marvelous lumed sandwich dial
* The Panerai trademark crownguard
* Case in steel
* A date function is nice, but only if I can have it without the date magnifyer (there is probably a name for it, but you know what I mean)

So, which models should I start to look at in order to begin?

All help is very much appreciated.

No PAM yet though, I'm afraid.

The new P.900x series movements will satisfy all your demands - the 312 and the 320 would be the best bet. Otherwise, the only date without a cyclops are the 233 Luminor 8 day manual and the 270 Luminor 10 day auto.

The new models don't have the awful cyclops - Panerai finally bowing to pressure from the purchasers...!

As they have only just been announced, there'll obviously be a certain wait before they're available - however, rumour has it that they started production last April with delivery scheduled for March/April 2009

I agree entirely with your search criteria - which is why I bought the 270 :)

Thank you very much Sportback. If I would exclude the date, which other models would be a match?

I have looked and looked again, but I have a problem with the official website displaying which models that have the sandwich dial.

And by the way, I'm still enjoying your 6.75. ;)

What the dickens are you doing in Tokyo then?? Hello my friend, and welcome to the forum - glad to see you found us ;)

Losing the date opens up the horizon to many more models - so it'll be hard to say, as the choice is so vast with older non-current models to include as well as the Radiomirs.

This list concerns only the current Luminor models - makes it alot easier

Base models with sandwich dial: 112, 176, 219
Marina models with sandwich dial: 111, 177
Contemporary models with sandwich dial: none
Manifattura: 233, 270

HTH
