Depends - Everyone has their own preferences. Is it worth it to you? I am assuming that you know for sure its genuine.

Lack of paperwork is one warning sign for potentially fake merchandise.

Agreed, but if you are buying from your Dad (or someone like that), and he discarded the box and papers when he picked it up in the Caribbean, then authenticity is not a concern. It would be good to have some context.
