This is my first post here.

I am going to Italy and want to pick up my 1st Panerai among 111, 312, 320 for my memory.
I intend to select one which most shiny to me in the shop (and must be available then) and sometimes it happens that I change my mind to completely different items, but as my base knowledge, I would like to ask you what is good in 1950 case.

I do not mind hand-wind or automatic.
I love the face of 111 (sandwich dial, no date and "3").
I do not like very much the date of 312/320 face from the design point of view and also I do not need date since I often do not use it more than 3 days and need to set the date every time I wear.
I do not compare with 104 because I prefer 312 in every aspect.

Now the question is the case. I want to focus on 312/320 if the 1950 has a certain tangible benefit.
Many people raise it as one of the beautiful points of 312/320 (or other brothers) but why?

I appreciate if you guide me a little.

The 1950's case is fantastic, and has a great look to it. I have described the cases along with photos a bit in this article on the site:

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much. I overlooked such a nice reference.
As you says in the page, two cases are looks so different from side.
(Panerai itself should put more picture of side view in their URL.)

Yes, 1950's case is beautiful.
Of course, at the end, decision should made on my wrist rather than in the show case.

Still, love 111 face, too.....

Looking forward to visit AD.

Thank you for your commments.

If you do not own any Panerai now and will purchase either 111 or 312 or 320, and also will likely add another in the future anyway, then, which model do you purchase first?

Between those three choices, then the 111. But personally I'd go with a base like a 000 or even a 005 with the seconds hands. They make great starters!

i was leaning towards the 312, decided on the 328 because of the ss band....both are nice. i know i'll buy another one soon, just not sure which one.

I have just returned from my vacation in Italy.
I finally bought my first Panerai in Florence. My final decision was 320.

1950 case is so beautiful and unique and I found quite different when I saw them and try them on my wrist.
Automatic and Date is not my requirements but in-house movement is attractive.

312 was not in stock there but I like GMT function since I travel a lot.
Especially 320's short hand adjustment is best way to me.

It is not merely my first Peneral but also meaningful as a memory of Italy.
320 just appealed very much to me in that sense.

Thank you very much for all of your kind advises and comments.

The PAM320 is a great watch.. I quite like it as well since they integrate the GMT hand without adding the additional dial clutter that comes with the 88.

And I changed the strap to Gold since they changed it free of charge.
Original brown is not bad but Gold just matched to me more.

I already wore twice but just for the dinner time each. After I returned home I may use 320 only for the special occasion.

Now I should try not to be infected by Panerai virus to want another...

Thank you again.
