Gold, in any shape or form, is not as hard as steel and as such, will get marked a lot easier. This is a FACT and if you buy a gold watch you have to expect this. If, like me, you actually WEAR your watch it will naturally get marked, unless you live in that parallel universe where scratches don't happen.
Therefore, you must expect to re-polish the case from time to time. Polishing a gold case is not like taking an angle grinder to it - you're not going to take off millimeters of material, at best a few microns, and I for one would be able to live with that.
Alternatively, do the polishing yourself and put the polishing cloth in a display cabinet, with nice little halogen lights, and a ticket saying "This cloth is worth Gold"
