I was going to entitle this thread 'Top quality Viagra' but thought it a bit risky given it's my first post!

Anyway, having stumbled on this site for a while and lurked for a bit I thought I'd register and share my latest acquisition... my gf bought me a PAM299 for my birthday and frankly I love it.

I've admired Panerai for a while now and even went so far as to buy a MM homage to check that I could wear a 44mm - ended up wearing the MM as much as my IWC so was definitely sold on PAMs.

Anyway, picked this up a couple of weeks back and while I wasn't 100% sold on the bracelet initially, it's definitely won me over... That said, the 299 doesn't seem to generate the love that many of the other models do... any ideas why?

Welcome to the forum - good job you didn't use your original title as I'm in a mad deleting mood at present and we'd never have seen you again!

I think the answer to your question is jealousy ;) well, that and the fact that a huge number of people seem to buy Panerai simply to be able to change straps (Yes, we all do it to some extent) - I sometimes wonder about the possible reaction if Rolex came up with a simple strap changing system... :?

Anyway, don't worry about that - I feel sure you'll get another one soon...then the real madness begins

I guess I should have said that I've already got a brown Manifatture Firenze strap, a black Toshi with another almond Toshi on the way! The strap changing system PAMs have on the later models is a joy - even the bracelet's easy to resize (unlike my SMP!)

I have a feeling that a sub (24 or 25 perhaps) might be on the horizon!

Hello, good evening and welcome !

I think the reason you gorgeous new watch is perhaps slightly less popular is the date magnifier. I've never really loved mag dates, to the extent that I bought a sea-dweller over a sub!

anyway I love your watch and wish you years of enjoyment with it

ps, don't buy a 24 or 25......Buy a destro next ;) ;) ;) ;)

Don't tell him that John, I was hoping he'd notice the 199 for sale here...(Regatta version of the 24)

welcome! I actually like the newer style bracelet, even though it is cheaper to make.. the simplicity of the bracelet seems so to suit the Panerai style more so than the more complex design of the original bracelet. I understand it is supposed to look like the DPTC but don't like it as much.
