Hi, I am a newbie here. Could someone educate me on the differences (pros and cons) amongst the various GMT models like the PAM 184 vs. 242 vs. 244 vs. 228 vs. 229 vs. 252, etc. If I can purchase one, would you buy the PAM 184? Thanks.

Biggest difference will be in the following areas
- Size: 40, 44, 45mm
- Case/Bezel material: Steel or Titanium
- Case/bezel finish: polished/brushed. Some are all polished, others are mixed (usually polished bezel and brushed case)
- Strap/Bracelet: Leather, Alligator, Steel, Steel/Titanium
- Movement: Radiomir and Luminor are different movements
- Slight changes in the face

A couple of the model#s you identified are discontinued.

Check out the panerai models link on the Panerai Source website. It describes most the models you posted.

I have the Pan161 and love it. You won't be sorry!

Also to answer your pro/con question.
The Radiomir watches are perhaps more dressy, while the Luminors are more contemporary/military like. 40mm models are unassuming and easy to wear under a suit with cufflinks. 44/45mm are a bit more bulky. Staps really aren't an issue since Panerai and many reputable after market strap makers offer fine straps for the these watches so you can change them up. I can speak from experience that my Pan 161 is a snap to change the strap on.
