Buying my first Panerai and I'm having a tuff time on deciding which one to go with. I like certain features of both of theses watches. PAM104 is cool looking with the cyclops eye IMO but I also like the looks of the 1950 case in the 312...TUFF...so seeking the advise of people that know these watches better than me.

Is there something that I should consider down the road....resale? Would one out weight the other and hold its value better?

Any thoughts out there?

Thanks!!

IMO, the PAM312 is a superior watch in every way: In-House Movement, 1950 Case, Exhibition Caseback.

Both are great watches in their own right, but if you have the scratch, the 312 is the obvious choice in my opinion.

If you only need to choose between these two models, the 312 would be the better choice: in-house-movement, second-stop function, 1950-case are the advantages of the 312.
If you want a more "historic" model, you should go for one of the hand-wound-models.
But for the automatic-models, the 312 is the better choice IMO.

IMHO, 312 without the doubt! Sandwich dial looks better than printed dial, inhouse movement over eta, see through case back to show the beautiful p.9000 movement, cyclops in pam88 reminds me of rolex, so 312 is a instant classic! :D

I have always loved bracelets with most watches, however I have found that I just don't like to wear my PAM's on bracelet. Maybe the new bracelet will work better, but I did not like the old ones. They are beautifully made bracelets, however, and they look great in the photos! Its kind of like how I don't really like Rolex on straps.

From 24mm at the lugs to 22mm at the clasp? Interesting.. the old bracelet was straight if I recall correctly.

i am currently pam-less. i've gone through 4 of them. everytime i'd feel the itch and have it on my wrist, it just wears too big with the thick strap and the 24/24 or 26/26. i actually like that the new bracelet tapers a bit so it wears a bit smaller(?).

my last pam was a 210 and i must've cycled through 4 diff aftermarket straps before finally putting back the 26/22 oem black calf and it wore so much smaller and comfortable for me. i'm anxiously waiting on the new 42mm rads.

Pam's definately wear larger, especially with the aftermarket straps. I think that's part of the charm for me.. to wear this big bulky thing with an oversized strap that no one knows what it is, so it doesn't look like you're showing off. It just has this cool distressed look that goes well with my style sometimes.

i agree 100%, that's why i've stayed away from the rollies....too flashy. i'm looking at a tag heuer monoco or maybe an omega to go with my other watches....all 18 of them....8^)
