I've decided to pull the trigger... Haven't zeroed in on an exact model yet, but I'd like to buy it directly from Panerai -- either in Switzerland (I assume they have a boutique at their production shop) or in Italy at the original production shop. I was in Florence last Christmas -- and I didn't pull the trigger. When I got back, I realized that I could probably fly back there and pay for my watch and trip for less than it would cost to buy a watch in the States.
If any of you have purchased at these locations, how was your experience? How did Italy (Switzerland) handle the taxes? Was it a cost-savings to purchase your Panerai in Florence vs. from a traditional retailer? I'm looking to buy, and I can't get it out of my head that I should just go back to Italy -- for the story, guaranteed authenticity, and potential cost savings. Any guidance you can provide would be appreciated. Cheers, C.J.
