So basically I am undecided as to what to get, I have a zero and 312 and am thinking of getting something a little different, perhaps the 287,251,25 or 243. I just can't make my mind up, I am swaying towards the 287, whats everyone's opinions on these, anyone got one?.

I don't have a 287, but I do have a 183 and I really enjoy having a Radiomir in addition to my Luminors. The Rad is a good alternative... but then a Sub is also a nice choice.. I really like the 243.

I feel that buying Panerai (or any watch for this matter) can be an addiction... I have just bought my 359 not long ago and I am already thinking of buying another PAM... of course I wish my miserable salary could keep up to this addiction but in reality, I cant...

I would agree a Rad is a good alternative but that provided I already own a few Luminors.. I still feel the crown protector is a key signature of PAM which is easily recognisable.

We all measure our watch 'needs' differently of course, but as you asked. My views?

The 287 is OK but is a significant loser financially if you ever re-sell it as auto Rads sort of don't make sense. The 183 is a much better bet imo.

The 243 is discontinued, so if you want new, move quickly.

The 251 is so far from Panerai origins, it's not for me.

The 25 is a modern classic and fwiw, that's where my money would be going.

Thanks for your views, much appreciated, I should have mentioned that I prefer date and auto.
Now I have seen the 305 :o , and am heading towards the subs. As I am a special age this year :D this would probably be most preferred, what numbers do these come in? Are they hard to find? Or Would I be better off with the 25?

I sold a mint 305 just last week!

Plenty out there but at sharply varying prices and you'll need a decent wrist to pull off the 47mm case. They lose rather heavily in value if bought new it seems. A nice watch which i enjoyed a great deal :)

Ah bugger, I'm a 7.5" wrist so should be able to pull it off, this would be a keeper so second hand value is not a concern.

Wish i had a £ for everytime i've heard and read it's a keeper  7.5" wrist is fine for a 47mm Panerai. If you really want one my AD will normally 'assist' with a deal if you can't source one locally or easily.

Thanks baz, indeed, you probably would have a lot of spare cash lying around if you had a £ every time someone said that.

Alex what is the pam666 devils watch :?: ;)
