I'm curious to know what everyones thoughts are on the question of dials.

The poll is just to get a general idea of preferences, but please reply to this post with your opinions as to 'why', as I'm interested to see the motivation in choosing one over the other - or in fact, if it matters at all to you.

I voted sandwich simply because it is different to 99.9% of all other watches out there.

Thanks mate - I suppose it's a start... ;)

Perhaps I should have phrased the question differently - if there were two almost identical watches, one with a painted dial, and one with a 'sandwich' dial, which would you choose? And why?

(I understand that it gets complicated when there are certain models only available with one style of dial, certain with the other.)

Well my only Sandwich chose me in reality but that's a convoluted story. Prior to Panerai, i'd never seen a sandwich dial. I think the depth for me is the attraction as well as being clearly unusual. I have one sandwich and three painted. I don't like one more than the other in some respects but as the sandwich options are more limited, painted rules i suppose. I voted for the sandwich fwiw ;)

i voted sandwich...if painted u mean those sausage-like dials then it's still sandwich. :)

for me the sandwich gives the dial a cleaner look, and there's zero chance of if chipping off (probably a bit too paranoid on my part). do both lume with the same intensity? i did not know about the sandwich dial phenomena until i saw a panerai also.

I voted for both. When I got my Rad I didn't knew there was something like a sandwich dail.

So, my next one will be a sandwich dial!

I am to sandwich dial coz it's look more Classy, Cleaner and I think it's the only sandwich dial in watch world.

And even phrasing the question like that Sporty, my response would still be the same! ;) The sandwich dial just sets Panerai apart IMHO, so even if there was a model with the option of either painted or sandwich, it'd be sandwich for me.
